Pack only half your luggage: a guide to hotel laundry services for travellers

Whether you’re visiting Macau on holiday, on business or to see family, and staying for five days to a week, luggage is often the biggest headache. With Macau’s hot and humid climate, you might need to change your clothes twice a day, which means your suitcase fills up quickly and you end up worrying about exceeding the weight limit on your return journey. In fact, if you organise your laundry properly, you can easily halve the amount of luggage you need to take.

1. Pack only 3 to 4 days’ worth of clothes

You don’t need to bring seven changes of clothes for a week’s stay. We recommend packing as follows:

3 to 4 sets of everyday clothes, chosen from fabrics that are easy to mix and match and quick-drying

1 set of smarter attire, for dinner or meetings

Leave some space in your luggage for souvenirs and shopping

On the third or fourth day, hand in your worn clothes for washing, and you’ll have clean clothes to change into the following day.

II.
